At Burks Strategic Holdings, we don't build businesses by accident.
Every brand under our portfolio is a deliberate answer to a real problem — designed with intention, grounded in lived experience, and built to do more than generate revenue. Waypoint Mobility, LLC is the latest proof of that commitment, and we couldn't be more proud to announce its official launch.
The Problem Is the Vehicle
Gig workers are the engine of the on-demand economy. They drive the rides, deliver the meals, and move the packages that keep daily life running across platforms like Uber, Lyft, DoorDash, Amazon Flex, Instacart, Grubhub, Spark, and Uber Eats. These platforms have created real income opportunities for everyday people who want to build something for their families on their own terms.
But there's a wall that too many people hit before they ever earn their first dollar.
To earn income on gig platforms, you need a reliable vehicle — along with the commercial-grade insurance required to drive for hire. In traditional markets, accessing both is far from simple. Credit requirements, financing barriers, and the high upfront cost of insurance create a gap between a motivated worker and their ability to generate income.
We built Waypoint Mobility to close that gap.
What We've Built
Waypoint Mobility is a vehicle rental company designed specifically for gig workers in the greater Tampa Bay area. Our model is simple and intentional:
One flat weekly rate. One all-inclusive package.
The vehicle, commercial insurance, and routine maintenance — bundled together. No surprises. No separate bills. No navigating a complex insurance market on your own. You pay one rate, you have everything you need to work.
We operate as a fully independent, direct-booking company. No third-party platforms. No middlemen. That means we can keep our standards high, our process personal, and our focus exactly where it belongs — on putting the right people in the right vehicles so they can get to work.
This Is Community Economics — and It's Personal
We measure success in more than revenue. At BSH, we believe Black communities and underrepresented founders deserve access to ownership — not just participation. Waypoint Mobility is a direct extension of that belief, applied to the gig workers and working families who make up the fabric of communities like ours in the Tampa Bay area.
When a gig worker can't access a vehicle, they can't earn. When they can't earn, their family feels it — in groceries, rent, school supplies, healthcare. The inability to clear one barrier — vehicle access — can stall an entire household's financial momentum.
Waypoint Mobility exists to interrupt that cycle.
By removing the friction around vehicle access, insurance, and maintenance, we're not just renting cars. We're participating in community wealth-building — creating a pathway for working people to generate consistent income, stabilize their households, and build toward something more. That is generational work. That is the kind of legacy we are here to create.
Built with Care and Intentional Design
This launch didn't happen overnight, and nothing about it is accidental.
From the company name to the customer experience, every choice at Waypoint Mobility was made deliberately — rooted in an understanding of who we serve and what they actually need. That means rigorous renter screening, GPS-tracked vehicles, a hard-stop verification process before any keys are released, and a maintained fleet that won't let a renter down mid-shift.
We serve serious workers. Serious workers deserve a serious operation behind them.
We also built this business to sustain — both the company and the people within it. That means models that respect capacity, avoid overextension, and are designed to grow at a pace that protects quality. We're not chasing scale for scale's sake. We're building something that can breathe, last, and continue to serve this community for years to come.
The Story We're Telling
At BSH, we are building companies that tell a story — of resilience, creativity, and possibility — for those coming after us. Waypoint Mobility is one chapter of that story.
It's the story of a woman who looked at a gap in her community and decided not to wait for someone else to fill it. It's the story of a business model built from the inside out — from lived experience, strategic thinking, and genuine care for the people it serves. And it's the beginning of what we believe will be a meaningful, lasting contribution to economic stability in the Tampa Bay area and beyond.
